The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at VNĐ24,177 per dollar on September 9, down VNĐ25 from the last working day of previous week (September 6).
With the current trading band of +/- 5 per cent, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is VNĐ25,386 per dollar and the floor rate VNĐ22,968 per dollar.
At major commercial banks, the opening hour rates continued seeing a sharp decrease.
At 8.33am, Vietcombank and BIDV listed the buying rate at VNĐ24,440 per dollar and the selling rate at VNĐ24,780 per dollar, both down VNĐ130 from September 6.
Similarity, BIDV cut both rates by VNĐ140 to post the buying rate at VNĐ24,430 per dollar and the selling rate at VNĐ24,770 per dollar. — VNS
