The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,238 VND per USD on April 20, down 3 VND from the last working day of previous week (April 17).
With the current trading band of +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,935 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,540 VND/USD.
The opening hour rates at commercial banks saw slight increases.
At 8:25 am, BIDV was listing the buying rate at 23,350 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,530 VND/USD, both up 15 VND from April 17.
At Techcombank, both the rates went up by 5 VND to 23,335 VND/USD (buying), and 23,535 VND/USD (selling).
Meanwhile, Vietcombank kept both rates unchanged at 23,300 VND/USD (buying), and 23,510 VND/USD (selling).
During the week from April 13-17, the reference exchange rate was adjusted down on Monday but then followed the upward trend towards the end of the week, gaining a total 25 VND.
The rates at commercial banks fluctuated during the week, but ended the week generally higher./.
