The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,053 VND per USD on June 24, down 2 VND from the last working day of previous week (June 21).
With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,744 VND per USD and the floor rate at 22,362 VND/USD.
The opening hour rates at commercial banks were rather stable.
At 8:25 am, BIDV listed the buying rate at 23,225 VND per USD and the selling rate at 23,345 VND/USD, unchanged from June 21.
Techcombank also maintained both rates at the same levels as on June 21, at 23,210 VND/USD (buying) and 23,350 VND/USD (selling).
Vietcombank cut 5 VND from both rates, listing the buying rate at 23,255 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,345 VND/USD.
During the week from June 17 to 21, the reference exchange rate went up on the first two days but dropped towards the end of the week. The rate ended the week down 14 VND compared to Monday.
The rates at commercial banks also declined on the second half of the week, concluding the week much lower than the rates at the week’s beginning. -VNA
